My Nissan Altima93(VIN#1N4BU31FOPC116119鈥?is acting up.?

My Nissan Altima93(VIN#1N4BU31FOPC1161190) is acting up. The idle RPM is fluctuating and when I come to a stop stalls. I changed the distributor, injectors, spark plugs, etc. The mechanic changed the idle RPM to 1200! Now it does not stall as often but it is not right!

I tried to read the ECU. In on-board diagnostic test mode I, the RED LED is ON, and in test mode II the code is 45. If my car is a California model, it seems that it has a leaking injector.

If it is not a California model, the RED LED (ON in test mode I) shows that the ECU is bad. How can I tell if here in Spring, Texas I got a California model or not(see VIN#)? Any solutions to my problem? My Nissan Altima93(VIN#1N4BU31FOPC116119?is acting up.?
I looked up your VIN. You have a federal model. It does sound like you need to check you IACV. If you need one the part number is 23781-1E410 and it runs about 150 bucks.

Good luck!My Nissan Altima93(VIN#1N4BU31FOPC116119?is acting up.?
But, if it is a Federal model, the RED LED on ECU (ON in test mode I) shows that the ECU is bad.

The problem was with the EGR Backpressure Transducer Valve. I found a burnt rubber hose that runs to the EGRC-BPT valve. I replaced it, cleaned the rest of the metal piping and it past the emission test!

It's going to say under your hood on the same decal where it says the year, and timing specs, and all that. It will say that it either conforms to U.S (or federal) standards, or California standards or both. If it's both it's a california model.

As far as the idling problem I suggest making sure that your IAC (Idle Air Control) valve is working. To do this, disconnect the valve while the car is running, if it works the car will stall. If it doesn't work the car will perform better.
